Description

Perinatal Health Program Analyst
#22-10001

Who are we?
The Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs (AMCHP) is a national resource, partner and advocate for state public health leaders and others working to improve the health of women, children, youth, and families, including those with special health care needs. AMCHP leads and supports programs nationally to protect and promote the optimal health of women, children, youth, families and communities. We envision a nation that values and invests in the health and wellbeing of all women, children, youth, families and communities so that they may thrive.

About the position:
This position supports the advancement of maternal and child health (MCH) programs by building AMCHP member capacity to sustain transformational partnerships with community thought leaders and identify and disrupt health inequities at their root. The position also supports researching sources of historical, structural, and institutional racism in governmental public health agencies and health care systems and facilities that drive racial disparities in MCH outcomes, with a focus on perinatal health. While the position will focus on understanding and dismantling racist policies and practices at their root, it will center anti-racist solutions and explore the power of efforts grounded in reproductive justice and gender equity to create action, restore power to communities, and celebrate birthing people, their families, and their cultures. This position will provide support for the administration of a collaborative learning environment comprised of community, state, and national thought leaders and representatives from local and state organizations and agencies committed to taking anti-racist action to improving perinatal health. The position reports to the Senior Program Manager, Perinatal and Infant Health.

What you’ll get to do:
1.    Work with the AMCHP team supporting the Healthy Beginnings with Title V program to design pre-work, post-work, and independent exercises for Title V programs to deepen their understanding of material covered in the Learning and Practice Cohort curriculum
2.    Assist in the identification, implementation, and promotion of equity-centered evidence-informed and innovative practices, policies, and financing methods in women’s and infant health
3.    Assist in developing and distributing resources, guidance, and tools for centering health equity and racial equity in efforts to improve maternal and infant health
4.    Conduct online web-based literature research on key events, policies, actors, and efforts – well known and unsung - that have shaped the field of MCH (with a focus on the 20th century and beyond) for the better or worse to inform the Healthy Beginnings with Title V Anti-Racism Learning and Practice Cohort
5.    Identify and coordinate with subject matter experts in anti-racism, birth equity, and reproductive justice (including from within the Healthy Beginnings with Title V Learning and Practice Cohort) to arrange for presentations and the delivery of curriculum content to the cohort members
6.    Plan and coordinate meetings, webinars, and conference calls for the portfolio of women’s and infant health activities, in partnership with Women’s and Infant Health team members
7.    Assist in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating grant activities, including developing progress reports and updates for funders
8.    Maintain strategic partnerships with key national MCH organizations and federal agencies
9.    Support implementation of AMCHP's strategic and operational plans. This includes aligning projects and activities with strategic goals, cross-cutting organizational initiatives, and supporting continuous quality improvement on organizational performance measures related to the position's scope of work

Requirements

You’ll bring these qualifications:
Knowledge
•    Knowledge of basic principles, theories, and tools for racial justice and health equity
•    Knowledge of maternal and child health (women’s and infant health preferred)
•    Knowledge of public health infrastructure at the state/federal/local level as it relates to issues affecting women, children, adolescents, and their families

Skills
•    Experience with webinar hosting platforms and other communication tools
•    Demonstrated commitment to racial justice and anti-racism through personal, academic, or professional groups or activities
•    Excellent proven verbal and written communication and critical thinking
•    Project/task management
•    Research and analysis
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and Internet use.

Abilities
•    The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, especially virtually; ability to develop and manage tasks for several projects concurrently; and ability to represent AMCHP as a partner with national, state, and local organizations and groups.
•    Steadfast commitment to AMCHP’s core values: Leadership, Collaboration, Health Equity and     Social Justice, Inclusion, Integrity, Excellence, and Stewardship

including the accommodation of a wide range of disability and related workplace needs.

Job Classification: Exempt

Salary Range: $55,000-$58,000

Why join AMCHP?
